Twin Pin

Twin Pin

The Twin Pin was created by Nick and Bear Mirandon in La Jolla in 1967. The Mirandons were inspired in part by memories of watching Butch Van Artsdaalen and Al Nelson riding Nelsons 5’6” planing hull at Windansea in the late Fifties. They were also inspired by the asymmetric designs of Carl Ekstrom, who was influenced by Simmons. The Twin Pin is a significant early example of Simmons’ dual finned concepts entering the modern era. Today Nick’s son, Eli Mirandon, carries on the innovative spirit of his father and uncle by building and ripping on updated versions of the Twin Pin.
